Last chance to Vote in the USJA Elections

Don't forget that the deadline for voting in this months USJA Boar of directors election is fast approaching.

To be eligible to vote you must be at least 17 year of age at the time of the election, and either a current Annual member, or a Life member of the USJA. A list of the candidates and their bios can be found at: http://www.usja-judo.org/candidates/index.html, and there is a link at the top of that page where you can receive a ballot in either Word, or PDF format.

On a personal note: Those of you voting in the USJA elections are of course free to vote for whomever you chose, but one possible choice of a slate of candidates is those aligned with Jim Bregman. More details on the Bregman slate can be found below, complete with a message from the man himself.

Don't forget to vote.

Sincerely,

-Russ Little www.gatewayjudo.org

Back in the late 70's an embattled Richard Nixon claimed that the 'silent majority' supported his policies. The majority remained silent and the war dragged on.

Does the majority of the USJA membership support and approve the path on which Jim Bregman has set the USJA? One is compelled to ask such questions because the membership appears to be silent.

Under the leadership of Jim Bregman the USJA was saved from bankruptcy.

Under the leadership of Jim Bregman the USJA has increased membership by 18 percent.

Under the leadership of Jim Bregman the USJA has implemented a Grassroots Development Program, which, in a few short months, has raised $5,000 for developmental funding.

Under the leadership of Jim Bregman a team of dedicated leaders has assembled to run for the Board. The objective of this team is to continue and expand the improvements, thanks to Jim Bregman, seen in the last few years.

The Bregman Team includes;

Jim Bregman AnnMaria DeMars James Pedro Sr. Gary Goltz Jim Webb Connie Haporn Lowell Slaven Serge Bouyssou Michelle Holtze Peter C. Mantel George Weers

If you approve of the direction in which Mr. Bregman is moving the organization, you cannot afford to remain silent. The election for the USJA Board of Directors ends in 8 days. If you approve of the direction in which the USJA is moving then you need to vote for the leader and his team who has put us on this path.

If you are 17 years of age or older and an Annual or Life Member of the United States Judo Association, you are eligible to vote for YOUR Board of Directors. If you are eligible to vote and choose not to do so, then you abjure your voice in the development of American Judo.

To download a copy of the ballot go to http://www.thenewusja2005.com/index.php or http://www.usja-judo.org/.

Upcoming Judo Activities

On behalf of Judoka throughout the St. Louis area I would like to commend Sensei Quentin Thompson for another great tournament at the Belleville Sportsplex. I guess it should come as no surprise considering that he is fast approching his 20th tournament at this venue, however the tournaments and even the level of competition seem to just keep getting better and better. We should all be looking forward to the next one.

Next up on the schedule, the Open Workout in Columbia this weekend, and the the Mid Missouri Open Judo tournament in Rolla. More details on both, as well as other local and regional events can be found below.

Here is a brief synopsis of what's going on:

Keep up the hard work, and I hope to see you all on the mat very soon. Sincerely, Russ Little Gateway Judo Association
